4 days from now I will have given up pop for an entire month. For those of you who know me that is considered a pretty big deal. The pic of the Mt. Dew bottles you see in the picture above is at my desk and it will be there for 4 more days as a reminder of how much pop I was drinking.
In the interest of keeping things moving in the right direction Adrian has challenged me to a fitness blog off. Earlier this year he did a 30 day stint where he blogged about his fitness progress (how many situps and pushups he did each day). Starting tommorrow we will both be blogging for 31 days straight (Nov. 4). This will be similar to the fatblogging done over at Calcanis.com
This is a good idea for multiple reasons.
- It gives you a running log of your progress
- Others will be watching so the pressure is on
- It can help motivate others to move in a similar direction
A couple of guidelines I am setting for myself are the following:
- I will start my day each morning with pushups and situps
- I will start with 10 and increase the count by 1 each day until I max out or the 30 days is complete and I am up to 40 of each.
- I will blog my results each day. (I’ll try to include something technical or geeky for those of you who could care less about my physical well-being
)
As a final note I will also be attempting to give up all deep fried foods. This has to be my second most unhealthy/biggest vice beyond pop.
